Who We Are
- We are a passionate community within the larger Toastmasters International organization, serving Manhattan south of 34th Street, as well as all of Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island.
- We create a supportive environment dedicated to personal growth and professional development by helping individuals strengthen their speaking and leadership skills.
Our Journey
Established on July 1, 2020, District 119 emerged during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. In those early days, some clubs transitioned entirely online, while others paused their operations — yet resilience remained at our core. By our third year, many clubs had adopted a hybrid format; some had returned to in-person gatherings, and a vibrant new era of growth was born. Today, our community flourishes with a rich tapestry of diverse clubs — community, corporate, and specialty — each contributing to our collective strength.
Our Mission
- Support existing clubs and encourage the formation of new ones.
- Provide opportunities for individuals to benefit from the Toastmasters educational program, helping them to become confident communicators and effective leaders in their personal and professional lives.
- Ensure each club fulfills its responsibilities to its members by providing practical training and leadership development that support district goals.
Our Structure
At the top is “The Trio”—our elected District Director, Program Quality Director, and Club Growth Director—who guide us on our path to excellence.
We are structured into five divisions, each led by an elected Division Director. Each Division Director supervises five areas, each represented by an appointed Area Director. Our team is also supported by appointed managers for Public Relations, Finance, and Administration.
